Health & Safety at Roadworks

    As already stated, the aim of this programme is to provide the participants with the knowledge and skills and attitudes necessary to carry out Health & Safety at roadworks.  The programme is designed to meet the training and certification needs of Local Authority, Public Utilities and private sector contractors and other persons involved in works on public roads.

  • All participants must have the following:

     

    1. Safe Pass card

    2. Passport photograph

    3. PPS Number

  • Course Content
  • On completion of the course, learners will be able to:

     

    1. List the main source of legislation relating to roadworks and explain the concept of risk.

     

    2. List the main warning signs used on roadworks and safely operate a "stop and go" system.

     

    3. State the potential hazards in excavations.

     

    4. Identify the main hazards associated with plant and equipment.

     

    5. Describe the main hazards associated with road making materials and identify the safe methods of transportation and manual handling of road making materials.

     

    6. List what to do and what not to do in the event of an emergency.

     

    7. Undertake the assessment programme for Health & Safety at Roadworks.
