Signing, Lighting & Guarding at Roadworks

  • Aims/ Objectives
  • The primary aim is to assess if the student has the skills and knowledge necessary to meet the requirements of the Street Works Manual in terms of Signing, Lighting and Guarding of Work Sites on the Roadway.  

     

    Rationale

     

    This programme was designed in conjunction with the statutory regulatory authorties in accordance with the Chapter 8 National guidelines and the requirements of the Health and Safety Authority to meet the Construction, Safety, Health & Welfare regulations.

  • Prequisites
  • All participants must have the following:

     

    1. Safe Pass card

    2. Passport photograph

    3. PPS Number

    3. Traffic Management Devices

    4. Traffic Management Layouts

    5. Safe Systems of Installation

    6. Traffic Management Applications

  • The 3 Day course will involve and cover:

     

    Background Information to act, Site Safety requirements, Basic site requirements, Exercises on roads, Traffic control requirements, Group exercise, Additional information, Written Test and practical tests and Session Review.

     

    The course is supported by videos, individuals and group exercises, practical use and a group project dealing with a variety of strategic events in signing, lighting and guarding.  The student will be provided with comprehensive information and guidance in our Delegate Pack.
